Being prepared...with visuals.
I find that with my art clsses most students learn visually, so I make sure that I have visual exmples to help support my handouts.
Hi Denise:
Good job on keeping the amount of ppt to a minimum. Students tire of this early on. If you could see their brains beginning to turn off, you'd immediately change delivery methods. We need to be sensitive to how much attention we can expect from our stuidents at any given time.

I am a visual learners myself. I always try to supplement class instruction with short video clips and a few power point slides. Not too many though!
Hi Melissa:
TV, magazines, and the movies prove that viual images work. Also, students imagination can used to create abundant, colorful images. Pose the question, then ask for a description. You might be surprised what they "see".

I like to use visual s as well but sometimes find it very hard to find the right resources necessary to be able to incorporate visual into my powerpoint
Hi Cindy:
Visual learning helps a lot of students. Not all to the same degree. But visual aids do contribute to a balanvced learning curriculum.

They can relate when they can see what they are learning.
Hi Adrian:
I agree using visuals adds a lot to a presentation. PPT is good if it doesn't overwhelm the room with too much or inappropriately formatted information.
Imagination - through the use of stories, past experiences, even mistakes - can also be used to create a great mental visual.

I try to use visuals whenever possible. It provides for a more stimulating learning experience. I try to jazz up lectures with powerpoints and it seems to help.
Hi Cynthia:
Good. When students get an opportunity to actually watch their instructor "show and tell", they're likely ti imitate their memory of that experience. Then, the instructor can critique when the student practices and demonstrates their skills.

hands on demos were I actually do the exact cooking technique with the class has been a great visual approach and well recieved
Hi Gloria:
I would imagine that visual learners would need examples such as you suggest. With that said, insprational teachers can do much with demonstrations, stories (audible) and encouragement (inspiration).
