Preparing yourself for the classroom

Be prepared to cater to all the learning styles of students

Hi Joseph:
Repetition can help, but to a degree, we are all slaves to our memories. Sometimes materials lists, or notes in the curriculum binder can assist assuring all that's needed will be available.

Hi Bobbi:
There's an element to preparation related to being flexible enough to change directions from the plan if that seems the best way to teach the material. It's like preparing for the unexpected.

Regards, Barry

That is very, very true. Every student will learn differently. Each student has different expectations and required methods of learning. By being prepared for class you can change your methods by being observant adn prepared to make changes as the need arises.

I usually overprepare for my class. Being a culinary instructor has its challenges. I need to be sure that I have all equipment, materials and learning aids, working equipment, my tools and props. Although I try to overprepare for class...I fing that I am usually missing something. I normally make a joke about memory and get a laugh while I go to my cabinet to get what I need.
