Organization
Being prepared for class is showing the students your motivation to for their success...it displays organization to maximize the time you have to present material
Hi Nelson:
I tell students it's "self-management", since we all have the same 24 hours in a day. It's how we choose to use that time that needs managaging.
Spending time, effort, thought, and planning into our lessons makes for better learning outcomes.

I agree with your statement of being prepared for class. The key is organization. A lesson plan should be developed, handouts and class material should be planned prior to the start of class. These are some of the elements of constructive time management.
Hi Anne-Marie:
Great. I believe students know a well prepared class from one that is not. Therfore, being ready for class with all resources and a well thought out game plan will convey to students thier teacher "has it all together".

Andrew:
Yes, students do notice seeemingly small things but they make a big difference to students. And to do it regularly demonstrates an organized, confident and competent instructor.

I find that if I grade papers, quizzes, and tests by the next class period, it sets a tone for organization and shows students how important I believe they are. When I am organized and show them respect, students tend reciprocate.
