Organizing

Always organize and prepare.

I agree. When I organize and plan my class moves much more smoothly, I cover what I had intended and I feel the students are relaxed & tend to be more at ease with topics being discussed.

Hi Gary:
When we think of disorganized systems, sometimes, "dirty" may be part of that paradigm. In general, disorganization sends a mesage to students that we may not want them to feel.

Hi Michale:
What we're really discussing here is the idea that good planning skills are part of good organization skills.

It also looks good for the student body. Be ready before they ask for something.

When I first became an Instructor the class room I shared with 2 other instructor was unorganized and just down right dirty I've spent the better part of nine months cleaning and removing junk no longer used the classroom is very close to being well organized not to mention clean, this also resulted in 1 instructor movin on of his own accord. My fellow instructor moaned and groaned allot to begin with now he is also seeing result's with his students

Hi Evenlyn:
I'm a believer in "preparation leads to good instruction", and using good organizational sills helps make that preparation more effective. Organized teachers save time, work more efficietly, make class more interesting, and perhaps, achieve better student outcomes.

I think we all can benefit from working to improve ourselves as instructors, and even seasoned instructors can always benefit from some continuing education on ways to improve being an organized teacher.

Hi Elizabeth:
Organizing your planned or expected sequence of events is not OCD at all. In fact, most students prefer to know what's ahead for them in the day. There are no secrets. Anything we can share with the student that will help prepare them is a worthwhile effort.

Call it OCD but I feel like a better instructor if I’m organized. I get mix-up and off track if my notes, handouts, power-point, thoughts are not organized and ready to go!

Hi Diane:
Better teachers are going to take the time, effort, thought, and planning to put a good lesson together. It's kind of like these modules, Some put a lot of thought and commentary, others choose not to. That's up to them.

But for our students thoroughness is important. Students will notice those teachers that are organized and those that are not. Thet'll appreciate the c are that teachers put into giving them the best lessons and information.

If your organized you get the job done quicker with out stress.
