Field Trip..!

So funny..Since I started taken students on field trips, they use they that word as a way of saying we need a brain break.. and it works..!

Field trips for us are really big. It takes at least 3 hours to do one from start to finish. To see their eyes and hear their questions makes it even more exciting for me.

Hi Cecilia:
You are pointing out very well that field trips serve as providing the students with a fresh perspective of the content you've been discussing.

Hi Jay:
In this case, it is vital for the students to see what they may be doing in the career, and brings a fresh perspective of what you've been discussing in the class environment.

Hi Diedra:
Field trips are dynamic activities that give students a view of what they might be doing as workers. For some, this might their first real exposure and reveal the reality of what they may be doing.

I agree. After taking my massage students to see the bodies in NYC, they saw A&P in a whole new light. Most of my students that attended this trip are moving on to become holistic nurses and physical therapist.

Field trips for my students are essential. I teach court reporting and it is a very difficult course to complete. The graduation speed requirement is typing 225 words per minute on the steno machine. When the students go to court and see the court reporter typing they become rejuvenated. It helps keep them focused on the prize (job) once they have graduated. They also see that the steno machine they use in class is the same machine they will use on the job.

Hi Andy:
Besides a change of pace, they can also inspire and motivate students who may view their future profession with new found information or a clearer understanding of what may be required. I find students will often begin to do better in class after they have been on a field trip.

I believe field trips are a great way for students to decompress for a day and get out of the classroom for a few hours and help them to see what they will experience after graduation and when they enter the workforce. They are also great teaching tools.
