learning
how do we know they are learning?
Hi Athyna:
Great question! Some might suggest that if a student can successfully pass an assessment with at least 70% accuracy, that demonstrates they have learned. Another method might be to have the student discuss their understanding of content.

I love the idea of calling it progress measurements. So many adult learners come in with fear of test taking due to bad experiences in school in their childhood years.
Hi Kim:
As educators, we ought to be facilitating a students education. Providing resources, explaing things, giving tips, sharing our expertise. In this environment, students will learn. Students who are actively engaged in their own learning come out the best. Gosh, there are a gazillion ways to measure learning, beginning with not even calling them tests or quizzes; how about "progress measurements"?

Tests and quizzes are really the worse way to access if they learned anything. In our program, we test skills by having them use what they learned in a project that uses those skills.
