clinicals as field trips

Our classes go to clinicals one week a month, which is like a field trip. I like the idea of giving them questions to contemplate upon return and will ask them to write and then present their thoughts about:
•What type of safety items did you see being used?
•What was the pace of the work setting?
•Was the work being done in groups or individually?
•What excited you most about the workplace?

And, the student gets the chance to speak to other people about topics you've possibly discussed in class, gaining that much more of a perspective.

Clinicals as field trips is a graet idea. It can give the student a real-life look at their chosen profession. Students can make the decision whether their chosen field is truly what they want to pursue.
