using a teaching journal

This is an interesting concept - I tried this last term and it worked wekk, although time was a cruncher. I will be more likely to continue this habit this term

I am a relatively new teacher; less than 1 1/2 years. This idea of keeping a journal stuck me as most useful. When I owned a restaurant, my manager would make a daily notation in the reservation book about the evening and how it went. I can see how this would be helpful to me in the same fashion.

I started writing down what worked and what didn't at the end of my classes. I also included thoughts about what would work better next time. When the next term started, I found these notes very helpful.

I want to start using a teaching journal. I have always just jotted down little notes on the sides of my lesson plans. Half the time I can't even read my writing.
