Most of the students training is limited to the theoretical classroom experience. Offering field trips provide a practical experience for the students. Providing guest speakers give the students the opportunity to receive a working knowledge of the subject matter.
Learning in a vacuum, the classroom, does not fully prepare students for the real world. Using guest speakers and knowledge-related field trips provide learning experiences.
Taking field trips are a fun way to learn. The students are about to have a more relaxed attitude towards their leaning experience. If students are able to listen to guest speakers, they can ask questions about the topic discussed. This will allow them to get a better understanding instead of trying to understand the wording in their text books.
The benfit of the feild trip in my class experience is they see how the knowledge they have aquired is applied in the real world.
The students obtain real field experience from field trips and use their acquired knowledge. Students need a guest speaker to really see how the professional field is reaaly like. The students hear it from instructors all the time, but I think that guest speakers really puts things into perceptive and reality sinks in.
It's important for learning to add other things to instruction rather than the mundane lecturing. Having guest speakers and going on field trips will help retain information for the students with other learning styles.
Hi Sabra:
I think the field trip and guest speaker are very powerful activities that can influence, inspire, and direct students towards their chosen career path. For some, their vague idea of what their profession consists of is brought into focus, and when students can visualize themselves doing the job, they often begin doing better in class as well.

Hi Robin:
Field trips inspire and motivate in a way few other activities can. A view into a possible future can translate to a margibal student getting their act together and really trying hard to succeed, based on what they observed.

In graphic design, it's fun and inspiring for students to visit galleries, museums and design firms because the students see first hand what they are aspiring to do. Similarly, guest speakers can really motivate students and reinforce what the instructor says is important.
Guest speakers give an opportunity for everyone to experience a person from their chosen career field. filed trips are great but there are cases when a student cant make the field trip and loses out on the opportunity of the experience of the field trip.
Hi Scott:
I think the field trip experience is almost magical in the way it can transform the interest of students in their career area. Perhaps because they begin to realize they will soon be required to perform duties similar to what they see, they get motivated to do better in school.
Anything that has that effect on students is a good thing!

I think field trips do more than educate, every time I take my students on a field trip it seems to lift their sprits and bond them closer together.
It ties-in the real-world to their studies. It gets students excited about their futures to see people doing what they are wanting to do. Field trips help them visualize their dreams at a high-level, and the guest speakers help them filter or focus on more specific information.
Hi Maria:
Both of these activities are sort of magical in that they inspire and motivae students to do their best based on the experiences and information obtained from the meetings.

For Anatomy & Physiology, we take a field trip to see a cadaver lab. This is practical application of the Human Anatomy we study in class.
Guest speakers provide insight that I may not have and can highlight important points to keep students focused and interested in the material.
The benefits of field trips and guest speakers, is showing students that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and after graduation this is what their futures will hold. This can give them just the boost they need to make it through a tough time.
Guest speakers play a vital role since students can relate with them so understanding and interest is good when guest speaker is someone like a senior student of the programme.
I bring guest speakers into the classroom who can share their job and career experiences. I especially like to bring in graduates who are working in field and have the students ask questions about what it's like to work in the real world in their field.
I think field trips and guest speakers are excellent ways to get students involved in their professional setting. I try to set a field trip every Mod to help in what we are learning in that Mod, I also have guest speakers from the professional arena and graduated students come in tell them what they can expect out in the work force.
It should motivate or remotivate students to maximize their educational experience and translate it to the workplace.
