your personality in the classroom
Incorporating your personality in to what you teach is a great way to engage your students and build rapport with them.
Mike,
Regardless of one's religious beliefs, I think swearing is never appropriate in class or in the workplace. I would suggest that your syllabus spell out that swaering is not tolerated and appropriate discipline will result if it occurs. Your school should back you up on this unprofessional behavior.

Im a christain what should i do if my student
swear in class, it seems that know adays its no big deal i say it is.
Hi Elizabeth,
Yep! We get what we give. As said, an authentic, genuine, sincere attitude will overcome personality defects.

I agree whole heartily. We are asking for respect and at all times we need to give respect. This is very important and will make or break a student if respect is not always felt.
Hi Marvin,
Succintly said, and dead on!

The easist thing i have ever tryed to do is just be myself, and no one does it better.
Hi Marvin,
Yeah, students are more perceptive than some might believe. I've felt that sincerity will nearly always stand out as a positive regardless of other factors that distract or bother students. And, it's so easy to do!

Right on, keeping the students attention and respect can be easily acheived by the use of your personality. Trying to be something your not is going to be transparent to your learners and they will quickly lose focus, and respect for you, and the material you are trying to get them to lear. Creating a whole lot of un-needed problems for your class enviroment.
Hi Gina,
Yes, students look to their teacher for direction. Being clear and displaying a friendly expression of openness to all students creates an inviting learning environment.

I also believe that using one's own personality is an effective way to engage students. Students will know if you are honest in your efforts to instruct them as they see your individual style in the classroom.
Brandon,
Right. Honesty and sincerity create more respect with students. Seeing an authentic person with flaws is often overlooked when the teacher is just being a real version of themselves.

I really like the idea of teaching with your personality. I think its a good idea to remember this. People will always see through us if we try to be something we are not.
Karen,
When students experience an environment filled with enthusiasm, infromative, interesting, upbeat, and fun, they are going to look forward to it and just do better because of it. And our personality in delivery and presentation can create this every time if we want it to.
