Organized and prepared to teach
When we spent more time organizing introducing the course becomes easier.
Misty,
Good organization by the instructor usually is accompanied by better student preparation and readiness. Your work seems good and thorough.

I like doing the lesson plans. Each student is giving a lesson plan for each day and in my lesson plans I have outlined exactly what we are doing that day. Therefore, all the students knows exactly what to expect and be prepared for.
Jayne,
Stand up comedians are known to say to audience hecklers, " Hey, I don't come to your job and screw up your work do I?". This reminds me that while we are instructors, we are also at work, and as a work setting, we need to efficient and prepared for our assigned duties.
Barry Westling
Yes it does suggest that the instrufctor is prepared and it does send a stopng message to the students and it helps the students to become organized and it will help them in the real world in their career.
Leigh,
In a sentence, if we want to produce professionals, we need to be role models for what we're seeking.

Hello all,
I agree, I believe it is of the utmost importance to be organized and prepared before the start of class. A. it sets you up for success
B. placing materials out in "use" order allows for a flowing delevery of the lesson, C. It communicates to the student " I repect you, & your time"...as not to waste valuable time the students paid for. D. It creates a polished & professional image to your students. Which allows them to trust & have confidence in you as the instructor. E. I ALWAYS prepare all of my electronic visual aids & pause the @ the beginning BEFORE class starts or during a break. Which also saves time & helps you to apear professional to your students. Being prepared is being professional.
Vallorie ,
When students see everything ready to go, I think that suggests "this instructor is prepared". That sends a strong message about preparedness, competence, and how serious their instructor is towards the importance of the course topics.
Barry Westling
Yes, it makes sense to come to class organized and ready with all your paperwork for class. It takes away the stress of trying to find everything and then get class going.
Darlene,
I just did an outline for a class today. It helped stay on track and gave students needed direction.
Barry Westling
I like the idea of an outline; this might help the students to pay more attention.
Michele,
I think team work with colleagues is one of the most beneficial activities we can be involved with. On many levels, between the camaraderie, sharing of ideas, "aha" moments, to planning - all contribute to better student outcomes.
Barry Westling
Michele,
This is a good idea. And besides the written outline, of course good instructors will be ready with all the lesson material, resources, media, and activities that pertain to that class.
Barry Westling
Working together as a team to prepare Lesson Plans helps to get ideas also
When I outline on the board what the daily schedule is, the students know what to expect.
Sherile,
I agree and confirm the importance of setting good expectations from the get go.
Barry Westling
Students can also sense when we're not organized; not ready. This may later turn into a class management issue.
Sarai,
Absolutely. I think classes run smoother and more effectively, and that is a way of saying easier. Preparation does take time, effort and planning.
