Organization
Being organized before the lecture takes place eliminates distractions.

I agree. I feel so "ready" when I'm really prepared and have all my materials and resources together. The opposite feeling can also occur when I'm not fully prepared.

Heck, yes. Organization is KEY - for Self (planning, presentation, guiding discussion) & for Students (to follow presentation, know they are valued, too). When I'm organized, i think clearly & feel more confident. Then, if/when the unplanned happens, I can better handle it & get back on track. This applies to most everything in my life! :-)

Organization is the only way that I know how to be, if I am not organized or my work is not organized I can not teach the class that I is in front of my, I feel that I am totally disorganized if my dates for when work is due is not correct, or if my handouts are not in the correct order, I have to have organization in my classes that way the students cannot say that I did not know the course that I was teaching or she is so disorganized that she should not be teaching here or us.

Right. Anything that may interfere with a natural flow and smooth transitions of topics can be a distraction to students. So having all materials readied, handouts copied, and the days topics outlined will contribute to students being attentive and ready to listen and learn.
