Planning
My favorite quote for students and instructors is "Failing plan means you are planning to fail."
Dawanna,
It does take time, effort and planning to present engaging activities daya after day. I start with the learning objectives. Then I think about at least three different ways I can involve students. Getting them involved makes for more meaningful and memorable activities. With variety, students feel like they have been involved and the class is more interesting. And the instructor has met the course objectives in the process.

planning is the hardest thing for a new instuctor.
trying to find engaging activities, i sometimes spend hours trying to come up with ideas and the students breeze thru them so fast. i find myself trying to brainstorm last minute to fill up class time.
Kimberly,
Good plans are rarely wasted, and nearly always useful for assuring solid instructional delivery of course content
