students

Instructional information and presentation is very important when trying to rely the information to students.

Cathleen,
It's true we receive many diverse students. Student-centered instructors try to reach out to each one with their own individual needs and abilities. This method can make a connection with otherwise closed off students, and if successful, can make the difference in success in the classroom, or perhaps something less.

Many adult students start school lacking self-confidence in their ability to learn, have undeveloped professional skills and/or have not experienced success, and are generally entering a totally foreign field due to any number of "life altering reasons." The onus then falls to the instructor who must make time to recognize the diversity of the group and identify the specialized needs of each individual.

Credence is afforded the instructor who students deem as organized and comfortable in their role. And an instructor who shares his own experience with change will find students willing to respond to their own challenges. Just as we instructors are considered subject matter experts, we are first, an equal part of the human experience.

Barbara,
Students depend on their instructors to be both competent in their topic area, and confident in it's delivery. We ought to try to make class more interesting by using stories, discussions, skill labs, demonstrations, along with integration of media into our lessons and PPT slides. Together, students should feel satisfied after each class session that their instructional class was full, informational, and useful in their preparation for their career.
