Once you start your lesson plans and teaching strategies for each subject matter. It is easier later because those blue prints are in place

Reshona,
I would check with Dollar Stores - nothing is over a buck! Also, some office supply stores may be willing to give you a substantial discount (or even free) paper in reams - stuff that hasn't or isn't selling well. And if you tell them it's for school, they may be more open to the idea. Another inexpensive route is butcher shops and slaughter houses - here you can pick up unused rolls or remnants of paper rolls that can be used as poster paper or even flip chart paper (if you are will to cut them to size.

Colored paper and ink are kind of expensive if you add it all up over the year. Not to mention the other teaching supplies we purchase on our own to make ourselves more comfortable. Can anyone tell me of a good print shop that offers discounts for teachers maybe? I have to print color copies at home right now and take them to school and it's no fun having to do that at all. School won't reimburse either.

Lindsey,
Great! Sometimes, just simple steps that take nothing more than a bit of creative thought can make a big difference.

I tried to find a forum topic to discuss the use of colored paper for classroom information. While I've heard of it for certain handouts, I loved the idea of different colors being used for different sections in the syllabus! I think that's amazing. I'm going to do that!

Antwan,
It's true that having existing lessons, handouts, worksheets, and planned activities help make the class run smoother when the instructor doesn't have to spend too much extra time getting materials ready instead of meeting with students and getting class started.
