Knowing the type of instructor you are is helpful in preparing istructional materials for your students

I agree that improved trust and respect are often side effects from well prepared instructors. Preparation is an absolute necessity. We are professional instructors, paid to do a job. To arrive at the job unprepared is just not acceptable.

Being prepared is a way to show the students you are confident in the material you are teaching. This reinforces the trust that you are an expert in your field and you know what you're doing.

Connecting with students is a type of relationship. When an instructor is confident and aware of their strengths in helping students, better student outcomes are likely to result.
