preparing for class

I prefer to use the white board for both my course outline, class time line and class objectives. By writing them out, I review them in my mind and provide the student with a way of organizing the material that works.

Nadine,
For many instructors, the white board is an extension of their thoughts, ideas, and key lesson material. I tend to write out terminology as it occurs in my discussion. Also, drawing illustratrions is a great use of the whit board.

My preference is still the white-board...If I see it.....I know that I told them and they should in turn write it down..

Stephanie,
I use bulleted points with key words, more than sentences (even brief ones). This helps write big enough for even those in the back rows can see. I also review the list at the beginning of the class.

I too like to write everything out on the Whiteboard to prepare students for the day. The tricky thing is writing it big and clearly enough so the whole class can see it.

Carlos,
Taking a little time for preparation goes a long way to helping our students, keeping thoughts, plans, and activities organized, and conveying to students "I've got it together!".

I like to be prepared for every class with powerpoint presentations, white board with the topics of the day and copies they can used to study or used as reference guides.

Thomas,
I think students like to see what's expected of them. By giving expectations, we are subtlety stating this is what were going to do and be ready to explore/engage/participate in these topic/activities.
