Preparation
Hi,
I typically put the daily events on a side board. Is it good to develop this routine in the class?
Thanks,
Andy
Patricia, I completely agree with you it's always good to supply students with topics that will be covered in each class session as well as the homework due. In this way, they can be prepared for each class and ready to take part in the discussions.
Michael,
Sounds like good preparation. Another important aspect is the daily preparation by the instructor for that days class sessions. I'm sure you do. Instructors who fail to prepare daily will yield awful outcomes.

Hi -
I teach math. I prepare a class schedule at the beginning of the semester. I supply students with the yopics will be covered in each class session as well as the homework due. In this way, they can be prepared for each class and ready to take part in the discussions.

Patricia,
This is good planning and organization. I try to always be at least one-week ahead in what's up coming. Rarely, I have had to arrange for a substitute to cover my class, and having the materials prepared beforehand has been helpful to all.

My class is a 20-day module. I have 20 hanging files labeled Day 1 through Day 20. Within each folder is my handouts, pre-tests, the You Tube clip title I plan to show, the PowerPoint presentation and everything I need for that particular class. Other instructors seem to like my system. It definitely works for me!
Andrew,
Absolutely! Students appreciate seeing in advance and throughout the class what topics, activities, and information is upcoming. It can also help the instructor stay on track.
