Handouts

What are the best type of handouts, pic or all words?

Thanks for the feedback Barry!

Stanley,
This has not happened much for me. Before I distribute a handout, I always preface it with why I'm giving it, why it will help the students, and what they will achieve by it. I think by creating a bit of anticipation there is more receptivity by students.

I find that students zone out on the instruction whenever I give a handout. It is as though they think that if they have the handout, no other instruction is necessary.

Anyone else have this response from their students?

Reshona,
Read?? What, open a book? Anyway, I'm all for resources that convey important lesson material.

Pictures are the best for me. It's a good visiual aid and students don't have to take the time to read words on a page. Goodness forbid

Corean,
True. An instructor has the ability to customize key material they want their students to have reference to.

Any handouts are important it helps the student focus on what you think is important in the subject.

Tammy,
Any handout should be meaningful and have a purpose related to the curriculum, otherwise, students are no timely to embrace it with too much seriousness.
