I am a big fan of powerpoint too, but I add a lot of links to external websites to keep it from looking stale. I also try to embed a video or audio file in each presentation to help cover the other learning styles.

I agree. Instructor made PPT's are more personal, more focused on the course the way the teacher is presenting it, and allows for more creativity in the formatting and presentation.

I recommend the instructor create the ppt. Many that come with the book are VERY sadly lacking in many areas. Although this requires time, planning and organization, it pays off in the long run!!

In many situations PPT can be a real asset. It's quite dramatic.
It can also be overused, formatted inappropriately, contain missing or inaccurate information, be boring to student, and take valuable time away from the teacher. All that said, it is one of many media tools todays teachers have at their disposal.
