delivery

by making sure the cours content is delivered ,you better prepare the students for assessements

Hi Nicole:
Yes, delivery is important and we all have our special and unique methods of providing it. I think however we decide to present material, we have to be honest and sincere about it or the students will see we're putting on a show. I'm not saying we don't have to be theatrical at times, just a genuine, natural version of it. Over the top theatrics will come across as just that.

I agree that the way the material is presented can make a difference in how a student will process the information.

Hi Mike:
Clearly, because we have expert knowledge, training and experience we are well positioned to reach just about anyone who is willing to try their best. I think when students give their all, it helps the teacher want to do the same.

I also think that you prepare them to do better in the "real world"

Hi Floyd:
A good point. Comprehension levels can differ, and better teachers will try their best to individualize instruction to best meet the needs of thier students.

An while comphension may vary, the course content usually is fixed and stable. So our goal is to try to get students to learn, with all their diverity, and achieve at least a minimal degree of proficiency that is aligned with the course objectives to advance them on to their next lessons.

Hi Floyd:
Training and classroom theory do have their limits and in some professions, it's all about the skill, performance, and manipulative acuteness. In these settings, practice is the key, whether that be by skills lab, demonstrations, or trial and error. Expert guidence can help keep the errors minimized, but if enough practice is allowed, students can truely become quite proficient in whatever career area they're studying.

The highest percentage of Students in my class are hands on, other wise they just dont seem to comprehen.

I agree, but all students do not comprehend the same. Some comprehend theory some practical application. that is, hands on.

Yes Farid, I believe powerpoint enables an instructor to cover all topics. We as Instructors can arrange the powerpoints made easier when using text accompaniments prearranged content. It makes it easier to add graphics and videos. I am often making more slides with continuing content. I am able to show and explain dental procedures verbally and partner it with visuals for students to better understand what they are to observe and understand.

Hi Farid:
How material is presented can make the difference in whether a student learns and retains needed information or not. For instance, a boring lecture, although it may contain all the needed facts may not be received well. But the same topic, loaded with a variety of media (a little PPT, whitboard, discussion, lecture, question and answer, etc) will most likely impact what the student retains and their resultant learning.
