I agree. I think being early to class and being ready before your students arrive shows them that you care about their education. This also may give them an extra push to be prompt to class! Don't ask of your students something you yourself wouldn't do be willing to do.

We can have the ability to be a good (or bad) role model. A lot depends on the demeanor, manner, and approach the student takes to the class.
Being honest and sincere, prepared and organized, confident and knowledgeable, and willing to offer support and encouragement. These, along with appropriate resources, clases will run smoothly, students will learn and feel comfortable about asking questions, and the student learning outcomes will be more likely to be achieved.

I agree that if a school, program or course has a good reputation, being affioliated with it carries some increased staisfaction by students and maybe because of that, they may be willing to work a little harder to achieve it.
I can say that the teachers will be enforcing the higher standards, for sure! It's their reputation that's on the line as well.

We do owe our students all we can give them - that's a type of role model.
Creating the fulness of the individual inside through our contribution to their education really amplifies anything they could emulate about us as individuals. I expect more from them them than I can give alone. It's what I can give them, and then the student taking that further, thats the greatness that resides in the potential of every student.
Respect, courtesy, patience, honesty, tolerance, encouragement and support - these things all teachers can give to their students - traits that will blossom when combined with the technical or career education we provide.

A lot of times the power of a teacher is very crucial in the development of how a student will be in decisions later in life. If you are not a role model for a student what can they look up to? It is so important that the instructor recognizes the power they have to change the lives of students. To make them achieve whatever they want to do and to dream large. Being a role model it is imperative that they practice what they teach and be true to the student and themselves.

True, we represent ourselves, our school, and our profession. Students often refer back to the days they were in school when working. So everything we can give them while we have their attention is very worthwhile.
