goal

the goal that you should always have on your mind as an instructor is to make sure that your students understand you..........most of the time

Hi David:
Since most of us teach in vocational courses, even seeming academic or didactic lesson material should keep the work goal in mind. Using examples that are applicable to the work setting is one way. Another is illustrations, or case studies that reflect an application that's likely to occur with employment.

I ageree with you - the students need to know the purpose of any activity so that they not only gain understanding of the concept but also of where it fits into the curriculum and their overall career goals and plans.

Hi yolanda:
As teachers, we have expert knowledge that we should be capable of transfering to our students, Usually, this results in an application that's related to skiills or work related activities.

The goal should always be as an instructor helping the student accomplishing their goal.

Hi Mau:
Understanding with a purpose. For instance, a teacher can be perfectly clear in assisting their students to understanding a concept, procedure, practice, or skill, but the student could still be in the dark as to where that fits into the course curriculum, or as a employee in some work setting.

So purpose or application is an integral component of understanding.
