overhead projection applyed to science
As a student as well as instructor I have always injoyed using my overhead projector as a tool to include the whole class. When used as a form to project a peetree dish you can discuss with the whole class what is being observed and it helps get everyone involved. Your able to point out certain areas of interest and everyone will have a clear view. Works wonders in the science lab for all shorts of presentations
Hi Russell:
Overhead can be a good tool. I've found this works better for prepared overhead slides. One nice thing is if you project the overhead onto the whiteboard, you'll be able to write on the board to emphasize some point or other (have to careful not to bump the projector).
A good supplement to the overhead is prepared flipchart notes, that form te basis for discussion. Of course PPT is an option if all the technical resources are there to support it.

For some reason writing on the board is not a strong point of mine, i often have students come to the board to work out problems etc . I am wondering using an overhead projector can that be a replacement for writing on the board ? or does that not a good idea ?
Hi Justin:
Great technique. Just because there are newer presentation models around, that doesn't mean the older methods can't be used. I think you've given a great example!
