Power points

Do you have a max number of slides that you think are good for a powerpoint?

Hi Jennifer:
The number of PPT's is going bto vary. What matters is the information contained, and the format and delivery presentation style used.

Hi Sabra:
I think PPT along with another media such as whiteboard, flipchart, overhead, reference to text, handouts or discussion work best.

Also, for me, it's not how many slides but what they contain. I believe bullet-pointed main points that can be elaborated on work best - discussion or engaging students in the merits of each point. So, in theory an hour class could have one slide with lots of discussion.

Regards, Barry

No, but if a powerpoint presentation goes over an hour it is very difficult to keep all students engaged. If multiple lectures are scheduled for one long class, I usually mix in a class discussion and a short quiz to keep the energy up.
