Power Points

I have to admit i think power points can be a little boring at times. I don't use it. I use the white board, handouts and student interaction.

I think ppts serve a purpose. They are helpful for student review. If you leave certain information out and the students have to fill in the blanks, they are participating and may find it less boring.

Hi April:
You make a really good point here - the best approach is using a variety of materials or methods to get the point across.

Hi Shay,

Power-points can be a lot of fun, but there are other methods out there of conveying the information in another way.

A lot of the ideas presented here are great ones! For example, having students work in groups and learn from each other, having discussions, having them write out ideas about the content, etc.

Regards,

Barry

Hi Diedra:
PPT can be a helpful adjunct as long as it is mixed in with other tools and media, some such as you've described.

Regards, Barry

From a students perspective, yes, power point is so boring. When supplemented with handouts & other materials a great instructional tool. White board is great if you have great writing, but not so user friendly for us lefties that wipe if off just as quick as we write it.

I love Power Points, however, my students don't particularly care for them.
