Instruction tools

I realize that using too much of one particular learning device, may not be the way to teach to many different students. I will improve on those devices in class.

i have many students with different learning styles, so i try to change up the way i teach from day to day. These tips will help me to better plan for the changes.

Using only one tool is an easy thing-maybe too easy-to do. Because different students learn in different ways, I feel I need a variety of tools to present information. PP, slides, movies, and stuff you can hold in your hand and examine are all used in my classes. I also use a whiteboard to draw and explain, and there are times when students in the class get to go up and draw out their ideas. The whole idea of my class is audience participation. I try to make it difficult to ignore what is going on inside the class.

I often use common media, films, to illustrate the points presented by giving students a 'feel' for the real world environment. Does that make sense?

Sometimes we as instructors have become to dependent on one tool to instruct our class, I myself depend alot on powerpoint, and that causes students to become dependent on them as well, which causes a great deal of confusion if the system/projection goes down.
