Goal of educating students.
Every instuctors main goal should be to educate or students. We should always try our best to bring out the positives in each and every student. Their success is also our benfit in turning out better professionals.

Yes, hopefully we are, although we can't assume. A good waqy to gauge is to have students participate in discussions. There's an old axiom that goes something like "you can tell a lot about a person by spending an hour with them in a game".
