Interaction

Interaction is a critical component of learning. For example, an instructor who interacts with learners as part of the instructional strategy is going to be better at identifying how learning is going, and whether things need to be altered. Interaction is also an active approach which tends to encourage learners to think. While not all learning activities require interaction, certainly it's important in anything but the shortest sessions.

Hi Kimberly,
I enjoy teaching a lab class for that exact reason. During labs there are so many levels in which an instructor is allowed to interact with students and assess how their delivery of skills are received by the students. Strengths, weaknesses and techniques can be developed according to each student's ability and rate of learning.

Kimberly,
Facilitation of classes involves multiple activities and responsibilities for instructors to achieve desired outcomes. Interaction does provide an integral component of "being there" amid the learning. Just like our expectations for students to participate, the instructor's role as a participator can be very helpful in assessing and analyzing course effectiveness, and the changes that many be required.
