Delivery Methods
Using a variety of delivery methods has been very helpful for me.
Lisa,
Very true. It seems life for many students is in hyper-warp speed, with our challenge to keep up in order to maintain their focus and interest. Variety in delivery can be creative and interesting, or stale and stagnate, and the choice will determine how close to meeting student leaning outcomes will be achieved. Our responsibility to stay informed and at least generally able to relate to the generation of students we are responsible for will create students who are more open to us, and therefore more willing to readily accept what we have to offer.

A variety of delivery methods have also proven to be of great benefit to me as well. It seems this must be done to combat boredom in the class. we are in a technologically advanced world, where students are used to fast paced knowledge and quick responses. We have to deliver concepts to them that encourages them to be mindful of the fact that not all things will be that easy. When working with humans(such as in healthcare or big business),no two people are alike. They have to slow down a bit and learn to observe and adapt. Flexibility and cognition must go hand in hand through a variety of delivery methods to meet the challenges of a new world of technology and to foster an inate sense of responsibility toward people and not machines.
Diane,
Clickers are one example that shows how the merging of technology, creativity, and engagement helps reach students and keep their attention. Use of cliuckers also is great way to annonymously stimulate and practice critical thinking skills.

Technology is changing what students expect. Clickers are a great addition to a presentation by allowing students to participate in the presentation. Students are used to multitasking with electronic devices and become easily bored when just listening.
Kristell,
Variety is really a necessity these days. Students are programmend to multimedia and technological advances to the degree that if we don't use a lot of different learning and media, they'll get bored, not pay attentionm, and possibly not learn as much. So needed time is required for this important intructor responsibility.
