Delivery of subject matter

I try to deliver what I want the student to learn in a positive and learning way. In a way that the student will understand me. I try to make it as clear as possible.

Darlene,
Absolutely. I value each student who has chosen to take my classes. Of course I have expectations, but I am never rude or discourteous, and prioritize helping them in their classes.

and never speak to the students in a demeaning way or use words that con be construed to mean "I think you're dumb." Students need to know that it's okay to ask questions, not to feel afraid that they will be put down for not learning as fast or as much as the next student.

Judy,
Having students participate in the delivery is very engaging and I think they learn and retain more when they are able to participate or even facilitate parts of the lesson. Keeping it livelyt, using a lot of variety and keeping upbeat will all contribute to better student learning outcomes.

When I teach I try to use several diffent teaching tools in order to reach all of the students. Some students are visual learners while others are hands on learners so I try to incorporate lots of different ways to teach. I like to start with a power point lecture and then maybe a video presentation and then end with a hands on presentation of the material. I really like to have students help to present the information as well, this keeps their attention and allows them to play a part in the lecture or presentation.

I really think delivery is the most important part of learning. A poor deilivery will not keep the students attention and will not be successful at getting the information to the student. Making sure the student understands the material is the main concept of teaching; it should be the most important part for all teachers.

Eboni,
Students learn different ways.I find using as much variety as I can gives me the greatest opportunity to reach the most student.

I find that creating a style that all of the students can follow has been most effective.

Andrea,
Much of the effectiveness of how our delivery of course content is received is within the scope of the students perception of us; our competence, confidence, abilities, creativity, attitude, and enthusiasm. These (and other) attributes can shape the receptivity of needed information. Of course, the more involved the student is, the more likely retention of information will occur.

I find that using as many applications as possible of the subject matter seems to be absorbed most readily by students. Such as using as many of the senses as possible, especially hands on learning.

Abel,
I think being approachable, patient, understanding, and caring are attributes that are attractive to students, endear them to their instructors, and foster trust and respect. Improved student learning outcomes are often the result.
