Power point
Power point presentations can be confusing for some learn ears.
Angel,
You're right, PPT is a tool. The biggest mistake some instructors make is putting too much information into the slides. I would rather prepare a handout whre I can provide a lot of detail and then lecture (with discussion) from PPT bullet points that guide my discussion. Detail is where my supplementary resources are provided (textbook, workbook, study guide, handout, worksheet, etc). PPT for me provides just the ioverview of topic categories.

I agree that PPT is a great tool. I always enjoy working with PPT because it allows me to present information in a diffent manner. This changes the pace in the classroom. I have to admit that PPT was a challenge for me a few years ago when I started using it. Sometimes, I will print my frames with enough space for note taking.
Bill,
Great. PPT is a great tool, but only that (a tool). Remember that the instructor is the leader of the class, and tools only support the information the instructor has to offer.

Our school is almost ready to start power point so this is very informative.
Felix,
Although the sense of smell is the most powerful sense, many students are very active visual learners. We can use this to our advantage through interesting and creative formatting of PPT presentations that bring otherwise bland information to life!

I agree that is why they need to be vwery visual so even if the students are not able to listen they can visualize
Mary Lou,
Yes, formatting, too much information, and distracting animations are among the most common reasons. PPT should be a tool for learning, not the focus of attention. All tools have a specific use and intended purpose. PPT fits into that category as well.
