I love my smart board it makes the power point presentations pop.
Thomas,
Trial and error, that's how they define experience! Getting instruction and practicing is helpful, but even the pro's run into difficulty at times. I think one key is to be able to graciously "go with the flow" minimizing any errors, and find an alternate method. Then, on your prep time get assistance. That's what cool about working at a college, there's always someone around who can help.

Having a working knowledge of the technology that is to be used is paramount. The course has mentioned using technology that the instructor is familiar with. This is a lesson that I learned the hard way when using power point for the first time. Fumbling the power point does lower the instructor's credibility with the students.
Tara,
Smart boards do add a dimension to presentation that potentially can make interactive whiteboard experiences memorable. I've found they're tricky and a little sensitive, but given their technical limitations, they're wonderful as a resource in the classroom.

I am going to suggest to the college that I am working, to look into getting these smart boards. I have heard wonderful things about them, but have never experienced them myself. Thank you for the information about these. Tara
Jack,
Smart boards are cool, if you have access to them. I've found they're a bit touchy, but they do add an enhanced dimension to PPT, and student involvement. Getting the students to use the board keeps their interest and more lively discussions often result.
