Keeping it fresh and interesting...

As educators, we are challenged with realizing our students are stimulated by new and different learning formats; using more than two senses will help to keep them engaged and learning.

David,
Right! When students feel their interests and personal aspirations are being discussed, they become focused, interested, and engaged. An that's a powerful motivation, when it becomes internalized with each student.

I Believe this is one of the best ways to get to my students. To be able to talk to the students about new up coming things gets them excited and brings there attention into focus.

Ersnesto,
That was a very good point. Students are very well stimulated when the instructor presents the material in more than two senses. Using several senses, not only do I see my students being engaged, but also commenting how much they enjoy the class.

Bill,
That's cool. I think when students sense their instructor is being natural and genuine, they're more likely to feel comfortable and believe their instructor is sincere. This can happen with with "just chatting", and helps convey trust and respect.

I try to keep things fresh and interesting with my students by relating to them and the things that are currently going on in their world. The news that affects them, the music, and even the slang. By doing this, they realize that i am trying to relate to them but, they are also tuned in to what I am teaching them. To me its a win win situation

Ronald,
Great technique. Sensory learning really helps the recall and application of theory.

I am a massage instructor and it is important that the student learns with vision and palpatory skills. I have my student give a massage when they are blindfolded so that they use the sense of touch and feel

Ernesto,
I agree and believe our brains have the capacity to take in more stimuli from multiple senses to facilitate learning. A focused, thinking person can achieve greater accomplishment when they have a mindset to do so, and the capacity and resources available to them to do so.
