Variety is very important. I also believe video's are great, especially when they are just very short snippets (i.e., 5 minutes) because even if the material is interesting, students begin to drift off when they are just passively sitting and watching.

I like using lots of samples to go with my slides which really excite my students. I am also on the lookout for taking relevant short videos for my class. My students really like looking at the short videos I show them.
