Diversity in Delivery

I try to aim for a diversity of delivery methods, but sometimes i get bogged down on power-point and return to it because it is safe. Any suggestions for "jazzing" up my presentations? I am considering teaching a few classes by having debates about the subject matter between student teams.

it is a good idea to practice different mothods of delivery to your students. many times tou will find that different paople absorb information at different speeds and forms. some retain from reading, some better from listening, and some from seeing or touching.its great when you can supply a number of avenues to reach your students.this helps re-enforce the end result you are trying to achieve. thank you D.Daviau.

That's a good idea. This brings the students into the subject more.

I am an adjunct instructor and I don't have much time to prepare for a class. I am usually given just a power point to go over with the class that I am covering at the time. I am only at the college sporadically and it is very hard for me to know how advanced each class is and how advanced I should be when presenting the material. I usually ask the class in advanced as to what they have already learned about the material and ask them if they have any questions as I present the material. I wish I had more time to prepare and offer different delivery methods with the short amount of time I do have to prepare. Any suggestions? Thanks

Jason,
This sounds like a wonderful idea. For me, I believe effective learning is not limited to traditional delivery methods, necessarily. Creative activities that result in a positive learning experience are usually welcomed and embraced by students. And anytime we can get that outcome, that's a good thing.
