workshop hours
A collegue of mine suggested that I offer workshop hours, just a few a session. So, I've decided to try this, scheduled for tomorrow (in culinary), for students to make the recipes they do not feel they have grasped. I was surprised about the number of students who plan to attend, which tells me that I might be stuffing to much material in the lesson plan each day.

Great idea. Time would seem to limit this for many instructors. But for those that can plan the time, that is excellent quality time and an opportunity to get to know your students, perhaps apart from just their academic pursuits.

I have a makeup day every Monday so if students need extra help they know that is the day. They can make appointments for other days if needed but I think this gives them a sense of security.
