Pretest
Pretest are giving before students enter into the ptogram. But the test are so simple that alot of the students can pass it, and still not have a clue in the classrooms.
Hi Jamie:
Pretests can also be an effective tool to help you identify what kind of student learner you have, and make the design of lesson plans easier.

Hi Julie:
That's true - in some cases, the use of these tools would not be practical or feasible.
In general, pretests can be effectively utilized to show you what type of student learner you have.

Hi Joseph:
One consideration may be to have students who lack some of the basic skills to pass a course get together outside of class on their own to spend more time with the subject.

Our pretest are giving at the start of the course to establish if they have any prior knowledge of that specific material all the other problems we find out in class and refer them for tutoring if they need it.
Barry and all-
Pretests may work in most courses; however, in Speech this would be very timely and prove to be difficult because each student comes in with his or her own set of issues that are separate from any other course out there.
I am not certain this would be the best manner in which to go as nerves can really get one person down who is a good speaker and others may have better organization than delivery skills.
Because of the manner in which I grade I do not believe that pretesting would do anything more than reinforce the negative behavior that so many of them already have!
What do you think?
Hi Melanie:
A good "classroom" pretest is helful when a teacher is unsure at what level their students are performing at. I don't use them all the time, really, infrently. But still, they're helpful in certain classes when I want to know where to put my emphasis.

Entrance requirements dont really do the weeding out of students with low comprehension and little or no vocabulary not to mention poor reading skills
