Pre-testing

when it comes to testing on the surgical instruments for ST program, I always have an open lab and student on student tutoring before test days. This helps my students perform better when it's test day.

Hi Adam:

In addition, pretests can show us how our students learn best, which helps us create more effective lesson plans.

Hi Patricia:

Pre-tests can be a great way to gauge how much time needs to be spent in a particular area. This can be a great time saver in the long run.

I like to use pre testing before introducing a new subject. This helps me determine what my students know and how I need to deliver and what I need to cover in more depth regarding the material.

Yes, I think pretests are an excellent idea because it lets you know if the student has any knowledge on the subject that you are going to be teaching!

I am a new instructor who inherited student that were not pretested. I am now noticing the level of knowledge is vastly different and slows down the class. i will definitely use this technique since I am in the medical field.

I was involved recently in a Respiratory Review Course given to my students. The teacher gave each student a pretest that evaluated his knowledge base. He then knew what areas he need to focus on with instructional materials. It was a great lesson to me about the value of pretesting.

In the culinary classes, all of the course work is related and a build up on the content of the next class. It has proven helpful for us to give the students a pretest to see where there knowledge and skill levels are.
