Back Up Plan
When you find that a particular teaching method is not keeping the attention of your students, it is important to have a back-up lesson in place to grab their attention.
Each term I have made up additional back up plans for my class. I have back up plan a, b,c, and d. Some students are more accelerated in getting the work done and then need busy work. Then they hurry up and finish with the additional assignments. Back up plans are nice but most of the time more lecture is needed and less independent study.
Yes I teach Intro To Computers and I may have 3 different section in any given semester; what works one class does not necessarily work for another class; I think showing the students that I am willing to adapt to their needs shows the students respect as long as the instructor is not getting dictated to by the student
