to determine many things such as the acedemic level they may be on the learning style they have and the approach needed to facilitate their learning style
Hi Carol:
Boy, I agree. This activity can take a little extra time but I think the payoff is well worth it, for all the reasons you mention.

Hi Margaret:
I think pretesting can be very useful. It takes time and effort, but pays off in the way students relate to it - anticipation of what's coming ahead, interest in unfamiliar topics, excitement about information they'll use in their profession. The teacher can use it to help plan as well.

Hi Rick:
I associate pretesting with planning. I can't pretest every class topic. When I do, it can revela information about a students learning style, knowledge level, and my approach to conducting that class segment, as often I have to tweak the lesson to meet the nmeeds of the students.

Pre-test can assist an instructor by learning their student’s level, interest, learning style, dislikes, likes, etc. This tool can be important in developing your media, lecture, lesson plan, and general course room methodology.
Pretests help you know what your students know and also help you to redesign your lesson plans and your teaching methodology to fit the needs of the students.
see where students are and helps the instructor plan for students lacking in pre-skills needed for the course
this helps the instructor as well as the student to better prepare for a course or exam
Hi Micahel:
Wonderful! This is a great example of how pretesting can work for both you and the students. Thanks for sharing!
Regards, Barry
Hi Kenneth:
Great! This is one benefit of pretests. Of course, having this knowledge then requires the teacher to modify, adapt, or tweak their course in order to address the weaker students if they're lacking in fundamental knowledge essential to the lesson at hand. So, a little extra work but the benefit is worthwhile.

This is an idea with tremendous and immediate use in my classroom. With a proper pre-test, I can cut down a process which normally takes the first two or three classroom meeting to accomplish. Thanks!
An instructor really needs to know the class and the students' knowledge background.
Hi Sandra:
It's a simple thing to take a pretest and determine where we may have to adjust our curriculum to better match our student needs. I understand it takes extra time and not every teacher can do it every class. But when used, it's a graet, simple tool to assist planning.
Regards, Barry
Hi Raegan:
Time is a factor. I agree pretesting can't be done all the time. The principle is valuable and the benefit extremely useful.
Regards, Barry
Pretesting can let us know what our students are capable of doing, so we can better lead them to success in their educational goals
Hi Aprilyn:
Most teachers will plan their course before their students begin. When pretests are used, it may provide an indication a need to modify the planned activity with more or less emphasis on one area with more emphasis in another. I think students like to know what's coming up in the course also.
Regards, Barry
Hi Rodney:
Sure - good point. By planning, this allows the instructor to augment or add emphasis wherethat particular class is going to need extra work or study. It can serve as a motivational tool as students will see previews of what's coming up and perhaps get excited about information they're going learn.
Regards, Barry
Hi Dorrell:
Yes. Defining at what level your students are at. Teachers can also use pretesting to plan for the unique and diverse population of students they receive that varies from class to class.
Regards, Barry
we dont have enough time to pretest. we only have less than 4 hours to instruct. the content is too much to use this valuable time to pretest. if there was more time then this is a great tool.
Pretest will have gauge the students' progress and your own progess in the course.
