having a plan B

as a new teacher, I make sure to have a backup plan for each class. This helps me keep the class on track with the material that is needed to be covered.

Hi Adnan,
A back-up plan is really just regular planning, but planning for the unexpected. When we ask " what would I do if...", however we would answer that question, that can form the basis for a back up plan. Actually 2-3 back-up plans would be even better.

As a teacher be prepared to face something different any day and if you have the alternative which is plan B ready, then you won't be panicing.

Hi Mark,
Having a back-up plan or "Plan-B" just means that we are diligent to planning for the unexpexted, which sometimes is more the rule rather than the execption. Sometimes, technolgy difficulties interfere with our plans. Other times, extra time at the beginning or end of a class provides an excellent opportunity to roll out the back-up plan, and the students don't even have to kinow that wasn't part of the plan to begin with. Back-up plans can be a lifesaver, when called into action!

This took me a little while to learn, as I was too set in my ways when I first started teaching. But it has helped me as well as the students to have a back up

Hi Shanta,
When a Plan-B is needed, it will be invaluable (for the reason you state).

plan b is always a great option to have. just in case you have different learning styles you can still adjust to them

Karen,
Back-up plans can be life savers. Either bebcause things just don't go as planned, or they can used as an alternate assignment or activity to fill unused time at the end of a class. Another alternate use is to keep distracted or disengaged students focused. Doing something different kind of breaks up the sluggishness.
