Choices

When students can make choices about the lecture, they are more compliant.

Aimee,
Yes, and I think in most cases this is called engagement. When we can have lessons that permit "what do you think?", what would you do?", or why do you think this is so?", we are providing a subtle form of motivation and empowering thrrough involvement in the students own learning pathway.

Students should have a sayin their education it is empowerng and motivatng to them

Mary Lou,
I think undrstanding the "what and why" a particular lecture is being given will contribute to the students participation and learning points the instructor wants their students to acquire. Compliance begins with the parameters expected by the instructor.
