Many instructors teach to the median comprehension level of a class, and that usually varies, class to class. I suppose they'll always be very bright students, and students whose understanding is weaker. I use group activities frequently. In groups, I try to blend strong and weaker students in the same group, and that works out well to bring everyone pretty much up to the same level of understanding.

Its great to start with multiple techniques to see what the overall student body of the class prefers. It is important to cater to the majority but also take into consideration the minority.

It's true, everyone learn a bit differently. Trying different methods to instruct or teach a new skill is enhanced by using a variety of instructional techniques, incorporating senses, and engagement activities that keep students interested and participating.
