Instruction
Hi,
Is it important to take frequent breaks in the classroom? My math class is four hours long with just one ten minute break. Is this too little of time?
Talk soon,
Andy
Andrew,
Sometimes institutional policies dictate when break periods are to occur. For instance, it would be a mob scene at my campus if all morning classes took their breaks at the same time! If an instructor has control over breaks, a four hour class in a math class might take a 5-minute stretch break after about an hour, then a 15-minute break at about the 2.75 mark, leaving one hour to wrap things up. Just one idea. I think you have to consider the subject matter and your audience when planning breaks.
