It took me a while to realize the benefits of breaking the course contents into smaller units. In doing so, the student tend to have a faster means of accomplishment which ultimately can be very motivating.

Breaking the time period down into lecture for 30 minutes, role play/review for 20 minutes the students absorb the material. It also helps them organized each disease process.

Like many things in life, we tend to retain information better when supplied in shorter chunks. Also, I believe repetition and review are great methods to reinforce key teaching points.
