I think all the time of different ways to introduce material. Sometimes in a crossword at the opening of class or a word search. I plan with my syllabus as I have other classes that take place during the semester. Keeping on course and making sure I cover everything for that day is very important to me. I do board work as well as power point and hands on skills. That is all planned in time increments as to make sure all is done at the end of the day. I like to give a heads up on the next days work in case someone wants to play dead. Time is the utmost importance.

I am in the automotive training field and the students that come to our classes are usually hands on and need the interactive skill assesment for proper verification of what they know. Can they take from a service manual and apply it to the vehicle. We have to have a structured plan which allows them to get the information and then go to a lab and use it in a real time senerio.
Siince I teach a bread class - i always find "cool" facts about the bread we are about to make. I also ask the students to close their eyes and tell me about a bread experience they may of had - smells, taste, grandparent, vacation etc.
