This is an excellent point, that is rarely considered. It is also important for students to provide reasoning for why they are pursuing their particular degree tracks, which could be used to "refocus" them whenever necessary.

There are only few things we do in life for no reason. However, reasoning why we do specific things is a challenge for many. When people are asked why they are doing anything, it is difficult to put it into perspective and give a clear reason. Just thinking and declaring verbally why we do things, gives clarity and purpose to what we do in general and add tremendous value to what we teach or to what we learn as teachers and/or students.
RAJINI,
It is important that students find intrinsic motivation, in completing assignments for their courses. This can occur when they are able to understand how an assignment or task, aligns with their personal goals and career aspirations.

I have found this true. Once a student understands why he/she performing skill, then they tend to get also motivated to perform tasks in timely manner.
Tonetia,
This is a great consideration for presenting learning objectives to students. Once they fully understand that the learning objectives are created to assist them with acquiring skills that will benefit them in their career path, the students can then focus on each individual assignment, without wondering "why is this important"?
