Deciding what to teach

Lesson plan is very important for instructors. Lesson plan clarifies teaching and learning very clearly. Students will understand what they are going to learn and for teachers, they can collect the teaching material in advance and teach step by step.

We post our lesson plan on a board in front of the class. Not only is it very helpful for me, but the students who are absent find it very helpful for them.

A good way to make a lesson plan is to start with an outline of the basic content that you MUST teach, and then under each line include details of what you can teach if you have time. That covers you whether you have extra time or you run short of time.

I strictly go by my syllabus every week, for as what to teach daily.

Having 20 sessions for each class gets very difficult to figure out what to teach. As an instructor, I have to try to figure out how much depth to review on each topic within my subject area.

The syllabus is a great starting point, but sometimes you have to adjust your daily lesson plan if the students have not grasped the material and you need to review it again. Certainly you have daily knowledge/practical objectives but you have to know when you can move on, when you need to go slower and how to catch up!

Deciding what to teach is most important. I find using life experiences guides me through that step.

We run our courses in 3 week blocks and hand out a syllabus. That allows the student to know whats going on day to day

You should always review your material to a point of almost like practicing it so you create a flow to your presentation

I have used a lesson plan in the past. I agree and will continue to apply to my class. It's great and helps you stay on tract.

ithe instructor must have a clear understanding of what is being presented

A good lesson plan will pave the way to excellent teaching hence will allow for a great learning experience for the students. This will ensure that what is supposed to be taught and learned for the particular time is covered. Also, a good evaluation of what was learned thru feedbacks is important.

This is a very clear and concise, but incredibly important point. When the students clearly know what is expected of them, then they have new goals to strive for and achieve each class. They usually work a good bit harder to achieve these goals.

I feel that having a clear understanding of what you will be presenting is very important. Students need guidelines to follow and if you are not clear as to what will be presented and in what context, it will make the process more confusing for the students.

I agree, it keeps the class on track plus allows the student to know what is expected of them each class
