pre test

Pre testing or just asking questions can give you a great understanding of where your students are.

I agree additionally, pretests help measure true learning. By comparing pre- and post-tests, instructors can evaluate what students actually learned from the lessons that were developed.

Pre test is great to do, because it lets you know what the students are having trouble with.

it also lets the instructor know who needs more attention

I improve my course by using past training info. each time I hold a class it is modified to improve the training.

I do the same thing James!! Also helps with retaining the information.

Its nice to know james where students stand so u know what we need to work on to get better or have better understanding.

the pre test will allow you to know where your students are and on which area to work to fill the gaps the students have in a specific topic.

David,

What types of pre-testing assessments do you use with your class(es)?

James,

I agree. Pre-testing serves as an important diagnostic assessment, that can be used to prescribe lesson plans that are created for specific students. In a career college, it is important that a lesson is unique and can adhere to the specifications of each student.

I appreciate pre-testing also because it may help reinforce to the students what they already know and as to what they will need to learn or will be learning in that class. This can increase their motivation to focus on what is being taught during that class. One can then do a Post-Test to help assist them to realize what they have just learned. This then can also act as a reward helping them to realize what they have just accomplished/learned.

it helps them get the student pointed in the right direction for the test

also knowing the material from the previous course should allow you to get a better understanding of students progress

Pre testing is really the only way to see what level the student is on.

gives us a good understanding on where they stand and what we can do to improve
